Xenon Arc lamps (sources) produce a broad spectral output from ~ 185 nm to 2000 nm. This is also the approximate spectral range of natural sunlight. Because Xenon sources can be as bright as 33,000 lumens, their relatively high intensity and broad spectral range make them well suited for UV-vis spectroscopy, where low level detection and high spectral resolution are required. This component, along with other sources such as light-emitting diodes (LEDs), is presented in chapter 6 of Instrumental Analysis.

"This instrumental analysis textbook is written with the student in mind, as the concepts are laid out clearly with good supporting 'Profiles,' exercises, and problems that reinforce the concepts. The concepts are explained in a clear and simple manner such that the students can understand

Frequent errors ruin what could have been a good text

I had high hopes for this book. The classic text on this subject, Skoog's Principles of Instrumental Analysis, has gotten unjustifiably expensive ($435).
Granger's book reads well and has about the right depth and breadth of topic coverage. It's reasonably priced. That's as far as I can go with positives. There are frequent errors, some of them very significant. I've had to make up my own errata for my students, and it expands every week.
The publisher supplied a solutions guide, but the answers are more often wrong than right. Whoever wrote the guide frankly doesn't know what they're doing. There are frequent mathematical errors, and the concept of units seems foreign. One question I just looked at asks for an answer in units of nm, but the solution guide gives it as 0.015 um. It's not just the units that are wrong, the right answer is 3 nm.
That said, now that I've put all the effort into correcting errors and making up my own solution guide, I may stick with this book next year to save my students the about $300 price difference between this and Skoog's book, but I won't be happy about it.
