Nice little book. Offers some brief insights into INFJ types that is helpful, although as an INFJ myself I'd have to remind folks that this is just generalities & not everything applies to every INFJ. Keep in mind while reading this that we're all unique, because there were quite a few things in the book that didn't apply to me at all. Still an interesting read.

I have relied on this book for years!

My mother gave me this book when I was newly employed as a young professional. I cannot tell you how many times I have referred to it during the almost 15 years I have owned it. Many of Higgins's thrillers have told one continuing saga, involving the efforts of Gen. Charles Ferguson (head of the British PM's "Private Army") and his staff to fend off various threats to queen and country. Here the timely challenge is Arab terrorism, but wobbly focus makes this a mediocre entry in a generally first-rate series. An attempt on the American president's life leads Ferguson—who alerted the Secret Service to the threat—and his main man, legendary hit man and former IRA enforcer Sean Dillon, to Josef Belov, an associate of Vladimir Putin (who appears in a cameo) and a Russian oil billionaire who's intent on world domination and who along the way is funneling would-be jihadists from Britain into terrorist training camps in the Middle East. Instead of concentrating on the promising terrorist angle, Higgins traces Dillon and Ferguson's pursuit of Belov and his goons, a race that leads to violent shootouts in Iraq and elsewhere. Ferguson takes a bullet, and Supt. Hannah Bernstein is seriously hurt. The story climaxes in a vengeful, bloody foray by Dillon and old sidekick Billy Salter into Belov's castle stronghold in Ireland. Higgins's action has always been clipped, but here some scenes are positively rushed, and there's much that's overly familiar. Still, the author's high-speed narration and the mesmerizing hard edges of heroes and villains alike should sustain fans' perhaps grudging interest.

This one, which brings back IRA enforcer turned British intelligence officer Sean Dillon, begins with a botched attempt to assassinate the U.S. president. Turns out the would-be assassin (who takes his own life rather than be apprehended) is part of a network of villains bent on causing as much terror and confusion as possible. Can Dillon and his American counterpart Blake Johnson bring the evildoers to justice? It's a standard Higgins plot, with standard Higgins characters, and fans of the novelist's previous thrillers will soon realize they are in familiar territory. The Higgins name will still attract an audience of devotees, but younger readers new to the genre are unlikely to see what all the fuss was about. Even veteran Higgins readers may find that too much of a once good thing has become tedious. David Pitt

I like how Higgins books end

I read book 13 and a few others by this author before receiving my Kindle as a gift. Now I order the books in the series in order. I like how Higgins books end. They do not continue. He is very adapt in bringing the reader into knowing each characters' personalities without being boring. I love Sean Dillon, Ferguson and each protagonist he introduces. I will read every book!

I just discovered Jack Higgins "Sean Dillon" series and just cant seem to get enough of them. I have read probably l0 or ll of them now and have not been dissappointed in any of them

Fire the Ghostwriter!

All of these customer reviews are right on point. Let me say that I'm a huge Higgins fan, especially "Solo" and of course the Ferguson/Dillon volumes. I have all of his books displayed on my bookshelf back home, and whenever I'm home for the holidays i always take out Thunder Point and reread the first act - it's brilliant.

Which is why I'm so disappointed with Dark Justice! I read it in two days and have spent just as long trying to decide if the book even had a plot. Without giving anything away to those unfortunate enough waste their money on this book, there's a teaser on the jacket cover that doesn't materialize - and with the "climax" being so short and underdeveloped i'm pretty sure i didn't miss anything. the only person who "fell" was Mr. Higgins off my pedestal.

Shame on the esteemed author. He has a devoted legion of fans, myself included, and he's now mailing it in something terrible. I've seen cheesecakes with recipes that were more interesting - the First Act Dillon barfight, the revenge-motivating Second Act injury to a key character, and the Third Act convincing of Harry Salter that Billy can go on one more mission with Dillon - one can only hope that Higgins will run out of cliched castles in which to stage his "climaxes," but i'm starting to get the sense that we've seen it all before.

Needless to say, i returned the book to Borders - it has no place on my bookshelf! wildebeist@aol.com

One of the Best

This is one of the most readable environmental texts I've seen.

It is very comprehnsive and the coverage of the newest scientific results in the science of resource conservation is simply excellent. The content is oriented around a group of themes and applied to the concept of ecosystems and their management. Is almost as if the author has takrn the first halting steps toward a unified environmental theory.

Two negative points though. Coverage of forest resources is a little thin, and like most textbooks, the price is way too high.

A Classic of the Genre

Dr. Wright's text has really become a classic of the environmental science field for good reason: it elucidates the basic principles of environmental science with depth and readability. This tome is not in its 10th edition because it lacks merit. On the contrary, this text presents the relevant topics in a more organized and rigorous manner than any other on the shelf. Students gain a fundamental grounding in the topics and issues of this emerging field, no mean task considering their great breadth.

The reviewers who have rated this book poorly have done so largely based on personal political doctrine. These people have missed the point. If Dr. Wright (or any other scientist) expresses distate for the current administration's stance on environmental issues, it is precisely because this administration has ignored and censored valid science in furthering their political agenda. Dr. Wright is merely advocating that the existing science be examined fairly and openly so that we can deal with pressing environmental issues like global climate change in the best possible manner.

Bottom line: a great introduction to environmental science, but not pleasant reading for members of the flat earth society.

Compelling, Comprehensive, and Concise

This is certainly one of the most well-written upper level environmental science books I've come across. The written narrative is loaded with important information, concepts, and vocabulary, but is written in a way that is still accessable to the honors/AP level environmental science student. A great deal of data is presented in the book to reinforce the ideas presented. Even better, many of the graphs and other diagrams used offer a different angle than you see in most other environmental science texts.

The authors even have a few chapters covering issues generally not given much space in other texts. For example, an entire chapter covering pest management. This textbook is very much deserving to be looked at in the same light as the much-adopted Miller text.

Very good starting point

Professor Kline's book offers a very readable account on a rather confusing subject. The theory is explained clearly, plenty of examples are presented, and specially, there is a good deal of interpretation exercise. If you're also interested in principal components analysis, don't miss I. T. Jolliffe's book.

Non Fiction

An Easy Guide to Factor Analysis by Paul Kline is perhaps not so easy. I am not sure Kline has a grasp on what that means. Perhaps easy to an expert already, but I have certainly read mathematics texts that cover complicated subjects and do a much better job of introducing them than this one.

So, you may want to look elsewhere for something that does a better job of that, examples, etc.

A Great Way to Overcome Fear of Factor Analysis

It has become increasingly evident that the social science fields need to evaluate theories and their underlying constructs empirically. If you are similar to myself as a graduate student, you needed to overcome your fears of using factor analysis in your research. This text is excellent for clarifying issues glossed-over in your basic statistics courses, without being too "techie" in its approach. This is a great startup book on factor analysis for fledgling researchers.
